  • Description is exactly "A January 24, 1880 Florence Gazette report of the theft on Saturday night, January 18, of $95, $6 in silver, a pair of pants, a shawl, bridle and saddle and a sorrel horse from JC Myrick of Cowpen (near Greenhill) in Lauderdale County, by African-American George Johnson. Myrick offered a $50 reward for the horse, which he later recovered. It is not known whether Johnson was apprehended or not."
