The *Tri-Cities Daily,* reporting on Bond's speech in its Wednesday, May 19 edition, noted that he was critical of "activists who are 'more concerned with themselves than with their communities'" as well as the penchant of "modern youth" to be too tied to "big causes" at the expense of individuals. And according to Bond, "the attempted coalition with labor, college students, and the radical left have failed Negroes."
