This is a letter to the editor of the Florence Times from Judge J.J. Mitchell, explaining that he felt the Florence voter registration book had been stolen by people who did not want African Americans to vote in the constitutional convention election. The theft of the book lead to election officials questioning African Americans about their right to vote.
