Description

A runaway slave notice placed in the the *Florence Gazette* of September 8, 1855 noting that the runaway slave named Andrew, belonging to WD Gales of Nashville, had been committed to the Lauderdale County jail by Sheriff Robert McClanahan. Andrew's master WD Gales had 30 days from the publication of the notice to claim his slave property or the slave would be sold at auction by the sheriff.
