A Wednesday, March 18, 1874 report of an "affray and other improper conduct" at a supper and dance fundraiser held by the Sisters of Zion women's organization of St. Mark Baptist Church in Florence which resulted in Wash Stokes and Simon Simpson being fined $50 and $25 respectively and court costs by the Mayor and bound over to the Circuit Court.
