(1) This is a newspaper notice announcing that a 21 year old man named Washington has been committed to the Marion County jail. Washington "stuttered badly" and was allegedly owned by a Mr. Lovoda near New Orleans.

(2) This is a newspaper advertisement for a public auction of Washington, to be "sold to the highest bidder" in front of the Marion County courthouse.
