This is a newspaper notice alerting the public that a man, about 40 years of age, 5'10", and alleged to have been enslaved by James Jackson, was captured and taken to the Choctaw Agency near Natchez, MS.

This is a bill of sale between Hanson Thrasher of Lauderdale County, Alabama and John Coffee for the exchange of two enslaved persons: Milly, aged 22, and her son Dennis, aged 14 months. Coffee paid Hanson $600 for both people.

This is a fugitive slave notice posted in the Florence Gazette by Horace Summerhill, where he describes a boy named Charles who is "part Indian, part white man, and part nigger" who has escaped from the cotton fields on Summerhill's plantation.

This is a newspaper advertisement for the sale of property that belonged to John D. Farney, deceased. The sale included "negroes" and was held at Jackson Kemp in Franklin Co., AL.
