This is an article describing Solomon and Washington, who had both escaped from the James M. Banks farm four miles south of Florence. Solomon is described as a "bright mulatto," 6 feet in height, 180 to 190lbs, 28 to 32 years of age, with the initials "S.M.B." on one arm. He was purchased from Jeremiah Briscoe in Mercer County. Kentucky. Washington was described as "of copper color," 5'10" to 6' in height, 23 or 24 years of age, and "quite a smart boy." He was purchased from Mr. John White of Warren County Kentucky.
