A Thursday, May 16, 1895 Florence Gazette report of the robbery "a few nights ago" by two African-American boys named "Persons" [sic] and "Moor" [sic] of a grocery store in the basement of the Farmer Block in Florence owned by an unnamed Black grocer. The boys allegedly stole "a few pounds of candy," and were arrested by Sheriff Hines.
