Florence historian Lee Freeman notes: "This article reports the formation and performance of the Tuscumbia, AL (then in Franklin Co) “War Minstrels,” of which three black men (whether slave or free isn't indicated) were members. The Minstrels were raising money for the volunteer CSA soldiers of Franklin and Lauderdale Counties. I don't know the names of any of these men, either."
