The shooting of Anthony Southern by Lemuel Vaughn.
Reports the August 24, 1958 shotgun slaying of black resident Andy Southern by fellow black Florence resident and TVA employee Lemuel Vaughn, who mistook Southern for an unidentified white man allegedly having an affair with his wife. Vaughn admitted he "shot the wrong man" and waived preliminary hearing and his bond was set at $5,000.
