  • Description is exactly "A couple of June 22nd and 24th 1956 Sheffield Tri-Cities Daily articles reporting the shooting of 21 year-old African-American and Florence resident Joseph Nelson Brannon between approximately 1 and 1:45 am in front of Jack's Chicken Shack, 108 South Atlanta Avenue, Sheffield by an unknown assailant.

    Brannon, an employee of Tom Smith Chevrolet in Florence, was seriously wounded in the left side of his head and the right side of his chest and was taken to Colbert County Hospital in critical condition. As of June 24th, the Colbert County Sheriff's Office had still not made any arrests and Brannon was reported to remain in critical condition."
