    Founded in 1886 as the bi-weekly Florence Wave, by the 1950s Marcy B. Darnall was managing editor of the then-weekly Herald, Harold S. May was managing editor, Oscar D. Lewis was advertising manager, and Albert L. Martin was production manager.

    Every effort has been made to identify all of the crime reports/notices in the Herald however some may have been inadvertently missed. The paper reported follow-up pieces to many of the items listed below, which were included when found. All of the items are listed in chronological order."
