  • Description is exactly "These are advertisements for Jacob Wytch's boot and shoe making and repair shop, and his grocery store. According to Florence historian Lee Freeman: "Jacob “Jake” Wytch (1848-1927) was born in North Carolina. He was a trustee of St. Paul AME Church and the Colored Free School and operated a boot and shoe-making shop, in 1880 located on Court Street upstairs over W. F. Price’s store. By 1887 Wytch had relocated to Hillsboro, Texas, but later came back to Florence. In 1898 Wytch went into the grocery business, opening a grocery store on Court Street next door to Jones & Smith. In 1897 Jake was Worshipful Master of Centennial Lodge No. 19, Colored Masons. Jake and his wife Charlotte had two sons. I don't know how long Wytch's grocery was in business though it was listed in the 1900 professional directory for Florence.""
