- Description is exactly "These are advertisements for Rush Patton, Jr. who was a carpenter and painter in Florence. Lee Freeman, Florence historian, notes: "Rush, Jr. (1865-aft. 1930) was a son of Rush, Sr. and Mahala Patton, who operated a livery, feed and sale stable until 1896, at which time he became a carpenter and house painter. Rush also worked briefly as the business manager for another mulatto businessman, Jesse Patton, and indeed, Jesse Patton named one of his sons Rush, and Rush Patton, Jr. named his one and only child, a son, Jesse (1891-). Rush, Jr. married Pocahontas Cluff (1870-aft. 1930) in December of 1890 in Florence. By 1900 Rush, Pocahontas and their son, Jesse were living in Ocean Township, Monmouth Co., New Jersey, where Rush worked as a painter; by 1910 Rush was working as a “mason,” still in Monmouth County, New Jersey.""
